About Piñon Elementary School

Piñon’s very diverse student population affords everyone a culturally sensitive, enriched atmosphere where every student learns from one another. Fifteen languages are spoken and families share unique backgrounds, occupations and talents.

Piñon students not only are caring about their school but are sharing their time and talents to make the school and community a better place by participating in programs such as Girls on the Run, Conflict Mediation, Student Advisory council, Faculty/Staff/Student Safety Teams, Energy conservation team, and School Spirit Leaders. For those students who prefer athletics, there are many opportunities to become involved such as dance, swimming, volleyball, wrestling, basketball and cheerleading.

Parents are an integral part of the learning community. The Parent Educator Service Club (PES) hosts many activities to support parental involvement, student engagement and a familial support system. A Saturday Family Academy is sponsored by the PES Club and Dollars 4 School to engage parents and students in the learning environment. Interactive Curriculum Nights are hosted throughout the year so that parents are involved with their children in activities that support the collaborative efforts between home and school.

Extracurricular activities are integrated into the school program through the efforts of the PES Club and community. Chess Club, Zumba, volleyball are just a few of the “extras” that are important extensions to the established curriculum.

The Pinon School motto, “All Things are Possible When WeWork Together Toward a Common Goal,” is truly a total community commitment to the students of our school and all children in Santa Fe.
