Two Girls ONLY Robotics Teams from Pinon Elementary represented the school at the VEX State Championship at New Mexico State University in Las Cruses.

The VEX Robotics Competitions fosters an environment of team work and mentorship. Teams pair up to make their robots complete several tasks. Teams build and modify the robots from VEX kits. Pinon Elementary got a 'Girl Powered Grant' to secure these kits.
The 5th grade team was represented by Maylin Gonzalez, Maricia Gallegos, and Amulya Mulakala. They competed against other elementary and middle school teams from schools across New Mexico.
The 6th grade team was represented by Sydney Branchal, Alyssa Gallegos, Alondra Rivera, Mirna Mendoza, and Berenice Enriquez. They competed against mostly high school students across New Mexico.
Valeria Gallegos and Malak Rashid worked hard to build the robots and helped the team prepare for the competition, but they were unable to make it to NMSU. Team mentors Dr. Rich Strittmatter and Mrs. Delara Sharma accompanied the teams.
