Dear Pinon Families,

Join us for a beneficial 21st Century after school learning opportunity that begins Aug. 16. This is a form to register for the program, as long as your family is eligible to enroll. Because the program is funded through a federal grant, students who need extra help with school work, EL learners, and students whose families qualify for free or reduced-price lunch are eligible to participate.

-The program will begin Aug. 16 and will run Monday through Thursday each week.

- One of the grant requirements is that every student enrolled must attend the full program on a regular, consistent basis. It is required that your student attends the full 2-hour program each day, unless excused through the Site Coordinator.

- Part of the 21st Century program each day is allocated for homework assistance, but also includes math and language arts tutoring and enrichment activities. If your student is unable to finish his/her homework during the program, you will need to assist them with homework completion.

-This is a great opportunity to build your child's skills in math and language arts and participate in some engaging enrichment activities!

-Thanks to Food Depot, supper meals will be provided.

Please respond by Tuesday, August 10th.

Dear Pinon Families,

As principal of Pinon Elementary, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back into our classrooms and hallways, filling them with enjoyment and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help every child feel welcome, connected, and a part of our Pinon Eagle Family. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities. At Pinon, we have great teachers who plan and create classroom activities to engage students in learning. Our teachers utilize research-based, best practices and analyze academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement.

In the next two weeks, important information and guidelines will be shared to help you navigate through the protocols for the beginning of the school year. I will be available to support you and answer your questions. Check your Dojo often for the latest information. Please call the school if any assistance is needed. Attached you will find some helpful information for the first day of school, as well as information regarding COVID safe practices and guidelines.

We look forward to seeing students in grades 1-6 tomorrow morning for the first day of school. Breakfast and lunch will be served and are free of charge. Please remember Friday is an early release day and students will be released at 1:00. All students being dropped off or picked up will utilize the first lane of traffic. It will be marked Parent Pick-up. If you are parking and walking your student to the door, please use the lane marked Busses only. It will lead you to the parent parking lot. Parents will not be permitted to walk students to the classroom but there will be plenty of staff to help ensure every student gets to class safely.

Thank you for your support and cooperation,

Danielle Aagaard-Sais

I want to thank all of our wonderful Piñon parents for helping to keep our school safe by keeping students home when they are sick. I really appreciate everyone's efforts to do this since we have been back in person.

Reminder: if your child comes to school and complains of any symptom on the CDC's Covid-19 symptom list (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea) he or she must stay home for 10 days or have a negative Covid-19 test result before returning to school.

Thanks,

Nurse Myrna
