Santa Fe Public Schools continues to monitor air quality during wildfire smoke events and other air quality alerts to help protect the health and safety of students and staff.

SFPS uses AirNow.gov as its primary source for Air Quality Index (AQI) information while also considering conditions at individual school sites, as air quality can vary across the district.

Principals may move recess, physical education classes, and other outdoor activities indoors at any time based on conditions at their school. Schools do not need to wait for a districtwide directive to make adjustments when conditions warrant.

SFPS will continue to monitor air quality and make decisions with the health and safety of students and staff as our priority.

Air Quality Update

Due to smoke conditions and the current air quality alert for Santa Fe, Santa Fe Public Schools is calling indoor recess this morning.

We will continue to monitor air quality conditions and provide an update this afternoon.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to protect the health and safety of our students and staff.

Air Quality Update: Though smoke conditions have begun to improve on the west side of Santa Fe, air quality in most areas of the city remains in the orange, red, or purple range.
All students will remain indoors for afternoon recess today. In addition, outdoor athletic practices will not be permitted. SFPS will continue to monitor air quality conditions and make adjustments as needed. Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff.

Back to School sale!

Dear Student and Parent(s)/Guardian(s), I would like to welcome you and your child to another exciting year of Physical Education at Pinon. This school year is going to be full of fun, learning, and lots of physical activities. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us! My goal is to provide students with the skills and opportunities to learn and develop an appreciation for a lifetime of physical activity. They will gain knowledge of physical education and engage in a variety of individual and team activities, sports, and challenges that will increase their physical, social, and mental abilities, as well as teamwork and cooperation skills. Students will be required to participate with a good attitude and give 100% effort in each activity, every day. If they need to be excused from fitness activities, please provide a note explaining why and the date on which the student will be able to rejoin class participation. Students must have a pair of gym shoes and are highly encouraged to bring a water bottle.
