SFPS Gun Violence Prevention Week
March 2 - 6, 2026
KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE BY PREVENTING GUN VIOLENCE
For many young people, concerns about gun violence are part of the world they navigate every day.
SFPS Gun Violence Prevention Week raises awareness, promotes early intervention, and highlights practical steps that help keep students safe and supported.
This campaign is anti-gun violence, not anti-gun, and recognizes the importance of outdoor and hunting traditions for many New Mexico families.
We are empowering students to shape a culture of safety in their schools by:
Taking the Student Pledge Against Gun Violence
Use Say Something to report safety concerns.
Reach out if you need help with a conflict, stress, or other challenges. Talk to a trusted adult, or call 988 or another helpline.
Thank you for supporting Gun Violence Prevention Week.

🏁 Pinon Students Make History at 2025 Electric Car Competition! 🚗⚡
On Saturday, November 15th, Pinon Elementary proudly competed in the annual New Mexico Electric Car Competition, joining 38 teams from across the state. All three of our teams delivered outstanding performances and made school history with their impressive achievements.
🌮 Pinon Team One – Taco Supreme
Team Members: Aaron, Dayton, and Elijah
Team One raced with determination and skill, advancing through multiple rounds and securing a place in the finals bracket. In an exciting and hard-fought matchup against our own Team Three, Taco Supreme finished 5th overall for the entire competition—an incredible accomplishment.
🍬 Pinon Team Three – Free Candy Car (AKA “Bob”)
Team Members: Wylon and Kamryn
Team Three dominated their early rounds with confidence, earning a spot in the finals. After a fierce bracket battle—which included a victory over Team One—Bob sped through the final race with power and precision, earning 2nd place overall for the competition.
🔴 Pinon Team Two – The Red Racers
Team Members: Luciano, Eli, and Mikolas
The Red Racers fought hard throughout each race, impressing not only on the track but also during their design presentation. Their combination of persistence, sportsmanship, and innovation earned them 2nd place overall for the 2025 Electric Car Competition.
🏆 Making Pinon History
All three teams reached levels of competition and placement never before achieved by Pinon students. Their dedication, teamwork, and engineering creativity shined throughout the event.
